Katie Price reveals she hasn’t seen her kids in a month as she attempts to protect Harvey from coronavirus

Always honest and open, Katie Price doesn’t disappoint when we catch up over a Zoom call during lockdown. Katie has had a tough time over the past year following her break-up from Kris Boyson, a stint in The Priory, her ongoing divorce from Kieran Hayler, plus she was declared bankrupt in November.

A source close to the 41-year-old tells new! magazine she found the split from personal trainer Kris particularly difficult. “Katie really believed he would be waiting for her when she left

The Priory – she was devastated when he wasn’t,” the pal reveals. “Now he’s with Bianca Gascoigne, Katie finds it so hurtful to see them flaunting their new romance.

“Katie’s been so honest about the trauma she’s suffered in her personal life – rehab, her mental health battle – that Kris going public with Bianca left her open to so much hurt. She really needs closure.”

But more than the end of that relationship, the separation she’s found hardest is being apart from four of her children during lockdown. Junior, 14, and Princess, 12, are living with her ex-husband Peter Andre, while Kieran is caring for Jett, six, and Bunny, five. She also hasn’t seen her beloved mum Amy, who is suffering from a chronic lung condition, for a fortnight.

Katie is at home with her eldest child, Harvey, 17, whose health conditions make him vulnerable to coronavirus. “I haven’t seen the other kids,” she tells us. “It’s just me and Harvey now.”

Before the virus hit, Katie took part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Revealing she found the training a challenge, she says, “I don’t think I was strong enough.”

Here, Pricey lifts the lid on her experience…

Hi Katie. How are you coping with isolation?

Believe it or not, I don’t mind my own company. But my mum is dying and the last time I saw her was two weeks ago. I couldn’t even go in the house. I was in the garden and she was in the conservatory. It’s so hard, but that’s why you’ve got to give it to the NHS and the carers out there who are helping everyone.

We totally agree!

If I didn’t have Harvey, I would be a volunteer. Harvey is one of those who are at a high risk of dying if they get it, so I haven’t been able to see my other kids. It’s hard, but I’ve got FaceTime. In that respect I’m struggling – it’s been a month since I’ve seen them. But I can’t risk it for Harvey.

We’re sorry to hear that, Katie. Let’s talk about your SAS experience…

I found the physical challenge so hard. I’ve got great respect for the special forces and doing the show makes you realise how hard training is. It’s worse than you think. When you watch the show it looks tough, but when you’re there, I don’t think people realise this, but it is really hard. And the cold! I hate being cold and it was freezing.

You’ve been through so much. Do you think some of the events in your life prepared you for this challenge?

I’m mentally quite strong. But physically my body wasn’t ready for a lot of the things I was put through. And when you get interrogated, even though you know it’s a show, it doesn’t feel like one. When the cloth is over your head it’s frightening.

You’ve done some mentally challenging shows before. Did that help?

I’ve had experiences of being in the jungle, Celebrity Big Brother – being confined in your own space – and it’s not normal. It’s all about being in your head. It’s unbelievable what the human body can endure. It’s about discipline, which is something I’m not so good at. Sometimes you have to listen. I bury so much because it’s the only way I can deal with it.

What did you take away from the experience?

Realising that in reality this is what the armed forces do and how hard it is. I was going through a bad time mentally before I did the show, and you’ll find out soon what was going on. I’m so much fitter now than when I did the show. I feel I let myself down. If I got the chance, I’d love to do it again.

Will people see a different side to you on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins?

Because I’ve got my reality show [My Crazy Life], people see me anyway. But I’m a lot more down to earth. I know I’m a bit bonkers, but that’s just me. I’ve got a soft, vulnerable side and I do put up a big guard, because that’s the only way I can protect myself. I hope people see a different side and see that I do have a vulnerable side. I’m going to start letting people see the real me. I’m sick to death of putting up this guard – it’s exhausting. Next week, you’re all going to be so f**king shocked with something!

We can’t wait to find out! How did you find being away from your loved ones while you were filming?

A lot of us are used to being away from our families for our jobs. It’s like a holiday for me and it’s nice to get away and have your own time, without people relying on you for everything. Just meeting different people and not being judged or being used – people talking to me because they want to talk to me. They’ve got no agenda. It’s not like we’re going for dinner and they’re expecting me to pay – we’re in there together. I want to stay in contact with quite a few people from the show, but I’ve been dealing with some stuff personally. I’m getting back on form.

We’re pleased to hear that. If any of your celebrity friends wanted to do the next series of Celebrity SAS, would you advise them to go for it?

I would advise Katie Price to do it again.
