Former Strictly star Ore Oduba has revealed he's easily stressed by the back-to-scyou hool routine and that keeping his son Roman's uniform in "meticulous" order is "quite taxing on the brain".
The TV presenter, who won Strictly in 2016 with professional Joanne Clifton, is working with Sainsbury's Tu Clothing to help parents save time in the mornings before school.
The 37 year old, who shares two children with his wife Portia, told OK! in an exclusive interview that he struggles with "obsessive behaviours" when preparing for son Roman, 5, to go back to school.
"You're out of that routine for about a quarter of the year but somehow going back to the thing you do every day is impossible," he said. "I do have obsessive behaviours – you could call it OCD, that's an easy label to put to it – but I'm meticulous with these things and that doesn't take away the worry and the trouble that you go through.
"I just have to make sure that every system is in place. Which is quite taxing on the brain. Everything has to have an order and I always go through on a day to day basis, making sure things are exactly where they are so that when it comes to, 'Okay, we need to be out of the door by eight o'clock,' so it's not so much of a gear change or culture shock when school returns."
Ore admitted that while he finds the morning school routine with Roman and 18 month old Genie stressful, his wife Portia is "much better" at handling breakfast.
"She doesn't seem flustered in that moment the time is ticking towards 'out of the door time' – which is non-negotiable, there might as well be blue sirens going off, it's that much of a emergency.
"It's not because we haven't got everything sorted. For some reason, this kid makes a bowl of cereal last half an hour," he laughed. "Then my little girl Genie – she's in a throwing mood so there's just stuff all over the floor. I just feel like smashing my head into the fridge door."
Ore added that there's always school uniform to worry about, revealing that Roman had a growth spurt this year ahead of entering Year 1.
"You come around to a day or two before going back to school and you go, 'Oh nuts, I need half of the wardrobe changed because that's too small. His trousers are around his ankles. He needs P.E. kit,'" he said.
"So it's not enough just to go, 'Right, is everything in order?' You have to refresh after the summer holidays – which is why it's so wonderful that Tu has an amazing range of clothing and kept the same prices as last year."
