Eamonn Holmes 'not good' as he reveals: 'I can't walk'

Eamonn Holmes opened up about his health condition and explained that things had gotten worse as he admitted he was struggling to walk.

The 63-year-old GB News Breakfast host offered an update on Monday morning and revealed he was ‘not good’ during his first broadcast back following a summer break.

Touching on his own well-being while chatting with the show’s guest Tim Franklin – who was running around the world – the TV presenter said he was finding spinal surgery recovery challenging.

He reflected on his operation which he had one year ago in September and explained that he had since had a dangerous fall.

Tim was telling the star about his own ailments and back issues when Eamonn shared that he ‘hadn’t recovered’ from his own and admitted: ‘I can’t run, I can’t walk, I can’t do anything except watch TV and eat’.

He continued: ‘I just got problems last year in my back, which I haven’t recovered from. It’s not good, it’s not a good recipe I have to say.’

The star first experienced back pain which came out of nowhere in 2021 and later discovered he had three slipped disks, affecting the mobility in his right leg.

He told The Sun at the time, that he was also dealing with a ‘trapped sciatic nerve’ and his ailments were having an impact on his family’s life.

Eamonn explained to the publication: ‘It’s been a difficult year. For months now I haven’t been able to walk, sometimes at all, and it has really taken its toll on everyone around me too…

‘I can’t bend down to pick things up so Ruth ends up having to wait on me and I know my sons particularly are a bit embarrassed by the way I move around.’

He also spoke about his back injury with the Daily Mail and said: ‘I still thought it would go away, but it didn’t. The knock-on effect was that I lost a lot of use in my right leg.

‘I got epidural injections, which helped to a degree, but didn’t cure the problem. I started using a stick, so life was already becoming more curtailed.

‘The spine and all the nerves that lead off it affect so many other things, which he felt needed to be addressed first.

‘I was crushed. I had been in severe pain for a year, and I desperately hoped this might be the answer.’
