How to tell your date you still live with your parents

A relationship expert has revealed a way you could tell your date you still live with your parents while remaining empowered and positive.

Hayley Quinn is an internationally recognised dating expert and TED speaker.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Star Online, Hayley said: "If you have a tricky subject to handle such as if you live with your family you should phrase that more positive and like you're being an action taker and decision-maker in your own life.

"Instead of saying 'oh yeah I'm living with my family for now' you could say instead 'oh it's pretty expensive so I've got a plan where it's really easy for me to live with my folks and I get on really well with them and giving me the opportunity to save some money and get that deposit'.

  • The three things you should never do on a date, according to a relationship guru

"If you say that, you sound 100% better and you're essentially saying the same thing."

Haley provided the tips on how to remain positive as it may prove to be more successful in securing another date.

She added: "I think there are two things here and we have to remember, you've possibly only known this person for a couple of hours or so.

"While you want to be relatively open you don't need to feel a pressure there to tell them your entire life history.

  • The best date ideas according to a relationship expert – they aren't expensive

"Everything about your life, we've all had ups and downs, will come across much better when someone already knows you a bit so they have reference points to what they can understand about you."

The expert stated "negativity is relatively unattractive and appears to show you being disempowered in your life".

"That disempowerment could come across as 'my ex made me this way' or 'I've just been really unlucky all these bad things have happened' or you know a bit of pity like 'I don't have any money so I have to live with my parents'.

"There's definitely may more positive ways of putting the same info across."

Last week the expert provided a clever clothing tip on how you could secure a second date.
