This 'Doughy' Skincare Mask Is Like a Vacuum for My Pores

The past year has been rough on my skin. Between wearing face masks and not getting regular facials, my skin has been going through it. From enlarged pores to uneven texture to maskne, I've experienced it all. While I'm always on the hunt for new skincare products, I definitely have a new appreciation for skincare masks. They're quick, powerful, and effective — as long as you find the right one, of course. And one of my current favorites is the Otzi Dough Therapy Pore Treatment Mask.

I was excited to try Otzi because it's a new Korean skincare line available exclusively at Sephora, and its dough therapy face mask truly lives up to its name. It has a very soft consistency and quite literally looks and feels like dough. Because it's not too thick, a small amount of the mask goes a long way, so I know the 3.38-ounce jar will last me a while. I used a brush to apply it — which I do with all of my skincare masks — and it spread across my entire face easily without requiring much product.

Now let's talk ingredients. Inspired by rice dough, the mask uses rice ceramides for a dose of hydration. Ceramides are lipids naturally found in the skin barrier that are crucial for moisture retention. Thanks to the inclusion of kaolin, a gentle yet powerful exfoliant, it also feels like a vacuum for my pores and draws out impurities for that extra clean feeling. This results in smaller-looking pores, but the mask doesn't dry or harden like many others do. You're still able to move your face and don't have to worry about drying out your skin in the process.

Another thing that sets it apart is its five-minute drying time, which comes in handy when I want to give my skin quick hydration without sitting in a mask for a long time. After I rinse it off, I apply a serum and moisturizer as part of my daily regimen, and I'm good to go. If you're not a fan of face masks because of their tendency to harden up and take 20 plus minutes to dry, this quick and effective option is worth a try.

Prior to its launch, Otzi conducted a study of the Dough Therapy mask where 100 percent of 32 participants reported pores and smoother skin. In the same study, most participants also said their skin looked brighter and more even in tone, according to the brand. And since Otzi is clean-certified by Sephora, so you don't have to worry about any toxic products being used in this mask.

The Otzi Dough Therapy Pore Treatment Mask works with normal, dry, oily, and combination skin. For $30, you'll get a great amount of product and visible results in only five minutes.
