Big Brother fans have been treated with a glimpse into the new house days ahead of the reboot’s launch.
Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold was granted the first tour of the new-look home, based in west London, which will welcome in the first batch of housemates on Monday.
The entertainment reporter gave reality TV lovers a first-look at the iconic garden, which has been the location of hilarious antics throughout the years, including Alison Hammond memorably breaking a table.
The first feature in the garden was a small smoking area which, in an unusual move for Big Brother, does not have cameras, although there is a microphone to pick up housemates’ gossiping.
In a bid to boost sustainability, producers have installed a tank to collect rainwater which will be used to fill up a large, circular jacuzzi, which is positioned next to a love seat.
Housemates will also be able to recline on lavish orange sofas in a plush outdoor seating area equipped with a fireplace, which Richard described as ‘a bit Love Island.’
While sadly Richard wasn’t allowed to show the interior of the house on camera, he gave ITV viewers a rundown – including his verdict on the iconic diary room chair.
‘The diary room is a sight to behold, it’s the biggest chair that I’ve ever seen,’ he teased.
Continuing his description of the house, Richard made the living room sound palatial, saying it was ‘absolutely vast.
He explained: ‘The living area is absolutely vast. There are two huge sofas, it’s the biggest communal area that I’ve ever seen in a Big Brother house over the years.’
It sounds like the bathroom is equally as opulent with a bath ‘on a plinth’ taking center stage.
Richard added: ‘There’s a bath on a plinth. Initially, they were going to have a clear bath but it would have to come from China and the key message here in the house this year is sustainability.’
The broadcaster said he was sworn to secrecy about the details of the bedroom but teased there were some double beds.
Rounding off his tour, Richard was given the boot by none other than the voice of Marcus Bentley, who has returned to narrate the ITV reboot and was heard saying: ‘Richard you have been evicted from the Big Brother house.’
Richard said what everyone was thinking when he remarked: ‘Hearing that voice and the music as well it takes you way back, [the show] which changed the broadcasting world forever… I’m sure it’ll live up to expectations.’
Big Brother is finally returning to our screens on Monday after a five-year hiatus with brand new hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best.
The show was originally launched on Channel 4 in 2000, before moving to Channel 5 in 2011 and then finishing in 2018.
ITV2 has already committed to two series of the trail-blazing reality show and hinted Celebrity Big Brother will be returning too.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
