Tracee Ellis Ross showed up to last month’s BET Awards with her baby hairs — or “grown woman hairs,” as she calls them — on full display, and now she’s giving fans the details on how they can style their edges exactly like hers. In the first installment of Pattern Beauty’s new Instagram series titled “Styling Sessions,” Ross is seen giving a quick demonstration on how she uses her products to lay her baby hairs.
She starts off the video with her hair styled in three messy buns that she wore to bed the night before and then carefully pulls out a few small pieces of hair around her hairline to style using the Pattern Beauty Edge Tool ($12). Ross then works a small amount of the brand’s Strong Hold Gel ($25) into her hair to give the pieces some definition before laying them.
“My grown woman hairs are just like grown women,” she jokes. “You’ve gotta really talk to them and give them a real reason you want them to where you want them to go. They’re not just going to go without explanation.” Ross ends the video by taking the Pattern Beauty Edge Control ($12) and using it to style her hair in swirls around her forehead. You can catch the full mini-tutorial above and shop the exact Pattern Beauty Products she used ahead.
