The season five star of the MTV reality show passed away months after her fiance Michael Frank Schaffer, with whom she shared her six-month-old daughter Lyla, died.
AceShowbiz –Jordan Cashmyer, who previously attempted suicide, has passed away. According to a heartbreaking statement posted by her family, the season 5 star of “16 and Pregnant” died at the age of 26.
Her father, Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr., confirmed the former reality star’s sudden death on Sunday, January 16 in an emotional Facebook post. Alongside a black-and-white photo of the late TV personality, he wrote, “Last night I received a call no parent ever wants. My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old.”
“Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER,” Dennis continued. He added, “Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy.”
Dennis also asked for privacy as saying, “Please understand and respect our privacy at this time.” He then concluded the post, “We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, granddaughter Lyla and family members [broken heart emoji].” Though the medical examiner has confirmed her death, no cause or manner of death was provided.
According to Jordan’s representative, she “sounded happy and healthy” before her death. “This is an incredibly sad day,” said Howard “Howie” Hood. He continued, “I wish people had the opportunity to know her away from her struggles as she was a very sweet and kind-hearted person. I’m grateful I had the chance to know and work with her all these years. Life was not always good for her and I hope now she is in a better place. RIP sweet girl.”
Jordan once attempted suicide in 2014 after her split from her then-boyfriend Derek Taylor following their daughter Genevieve “Evie” Shae Taylor’s arrival. In addition, her sudden passing came just months after her fiance Michael Frank Schaffer, with whom she shared her six-month-old daughter Lyla, died.
Jordan’s life was indeed troubled. She admitted herself to a rehab facility in June 2016 at the age of 21 after she injured herself in a drunken stupor. A source claimed that the incident, which left Jordan with a concussion and black eye, made her think that it was time to “get her life together.”
However, in 2017 Jordan was arrested twice for drug possession. At the time, she was charged with one count of possession of marijuana and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Two years later, she was taken to police custody on drug charges. She pleaded guilty to two charges of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia that November. After another rehab stint in January 2020, she maintained her sobriety and celebrated one year sober in January 2021.
