Love Island favourite Amy Hart has revealed she spent five days in hospital following the birth of her son.
The new mum took to Instagram this evening, Tuesday 7 March, to announce the arrival of her baby boy to her 1.1 million Instagram followers.
Amy and her partner Sam Rason’s little boy was born on 3 March, but the trio have only just returned home.
“Well…. 4 days of contractions at home (which everyone told us were braxton hicks… they weren’t),” Amy’s post began.
“4 very short hours in the delivery suite and 5 long days in hospital later, we are home with our dreamy baby boy.”
The tot was born at 3:13am on Friday night weighing 8lb and already sports a full head of hair.
Describing themselves as “so, so in love”, Amy went on: “Proper introductions to come but now we’re home safe and sound. Thank you to everyone who sent their well wishes. We really appreciated it over the last few days.”
It currently remains unclear why the Love Island star had to remain in hospital for a few days, but the new mum and her newborn both appear to be happy and well.
Amy and Sam have since been inundated with congratulatory messages, with Shaughna Phillips – who is also due to give birth any day now – leading the comments.
“So beautiful! Congratulations to you all, glad you’re all home,” she wrote, as fellow Love Island alumni Olivia Attwood said: “Ahhh congratulations. So beautiful”.
“Congratulations you two,” added Vicky Pattison alongside a string of lovestruck emojis, while Zoe Hague penned: “Congratulations guys!!!!! Beautiful pics”.
Celebs Go Dating’s Anna Williamson also wrote: “Wonderful news!!!! Congratulations”.
Amy has since addressed why she waited a few days to tell her friends and fans of her little boy’s birth.
Sharing her announcement to her Instagram Story, Amy wrote next to it: “We would have announced sooner but we wanted to wait until we were all 100% well and home from hospital. Got home late this afternoon.”
Sam has also shared a sweet post to his Instagram Story as he quipped about his son’s fantastic hair.
“After a long 4.5 days we have our baby boy home,” he wrote.
“He is a handsome little boy with more hair than me! @amyhartxo I love you”.

Ahead of their newborn’s arrival, Amy told OK! that she was determined to have a positive mindset before giving birth.
She recently told us: “How bad can it be? People go back for seconds, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths. My nan’s mum had 12 or 14 children. It can’t be that bad.
“Everyone says to me, ‘You’re really naïve and stupid.’ But that’s what I’m sticking with. I can either go in with a positive or negative mental attitude, so I might as well go in positively.”
Amy and Sam didn’t find out the gender of their baby ahead of their youngster’s arrival and, with this in mind, picked out names for both a boy and a girl.
