Bake Off’s Laura labelled ‘inspiration’ after bikini pic post-body confidence battle

Laura Adlington has been hailed as an "inspiration" after sharing a snap of herself in a bikini on holiday.

The Great British Bake Off star has become a body confidence advocate since appearing on the show and in the caption of her latest picture, Laura told fans "always wear the damn bikini".

Looking stunning in her black bikini and slicked-back hair, Laura, 33, exuded confidence as she smiled for the camera.

She added in the caption: "Finally got my mojo back!

"There’s just something about being in the sea that makes me feel at peace. It’s where my body feels most at home.

"My goal for this holiday is to swim, soak up the sun and relax," Laura said.

The podcaster also shared a sweet clip of herself on holiday, enjoying the beautiful sandy white beaches and crystal clear ocean.

In another clip, Laura could be seen in a classic one-piece and floaty white shirt as she played on the shoreline. The posts are all the more impressive given that Laura has only just begun to feel comfortable wearing a bikini.

Many fans have praised Laura for her honesty online, with her fellow Great British Bake Off star Rahul Mandal also weighing in.

He wrote in the comments: "We all love you and accept you as you are. Thanks for inspiring everyone."

Others soon joined in, as one fan wrote: "You share your message and your body in a way that many don't. It's authentic, it's nuanced and it's accessible. Thank you."

"I love your posts. And I love your looks and freedom…You're an inspiration just seem like you'd be a brilliant friend to everyone." gushed another.

The short clip Laura posted featured audio from renowned yoga teacher, Jessamyn Stanley, who said: "I don't think anyone loves their body all the time. I think it's always a spectrum."

"Like there are different days. Some days you feel really good about your body. Some days you love it. And then some days you really hate it…"

Jessamyn's narration continued: "But on every day it's there and acceptance and the freedom that comes from acceptance rests on that day when you can say 'hey, this is what I look like and I'm cool with that'."

The message clearly resonated with Laura, who discussed her battle to feel comfortable in her own skin.

Her words echoed Jessamyn’s as she wrote in the caption: “I don't think it's always realistic to love your body. Accepting it and not letting it hold you back is where it's at … for me at least."

Laura even tagged the author and yoga teacher, adding: "Thank you for these wise words @mynameisjessamyn."

This recent post is just the latest in a series showing the baker’s luxurious holiday, as Laura has soaked up some winter sun.

Laura has shared several clips from her time abroad, and in another post about spoke about getting her “mojo” back after the post-Christmas slump.

Laura even dedicated an episode of her podcast, Go Love Yourself, to the topic back speaking about weight gain and diet culture during December.

The upbeat podcast has been a huge hit with Laura’s fans, with it launching on Apple Podcasts shortly after Laura left Bake Off in 2020.
