Bruce Willis’ family is is helping him to “live as full a life as possible” after his worsening diagnosis
After the Die Hard star’s family — wife Emma Hemming and two daughters, Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, 8, as well as ex-wife Demi Moore and their three daughters, Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 29 — revealed their patriarch’s frontotemporal dementia diagnosis last Thursday, they want everyone to know they’re doing the best they can to make him happy and healthy.
But that doesn’t just mean creature comforts! A source close to the clan told People Monday:
“The focus for Bruce is to keep him active. He has a busy schedule with activities every day. They make sure both his body and brain is exercised.”
The confidant added that the family “is all closer than ever,” noting that Emma is trying to make as many positive memories for their young daughters as possible:
“She wants them to remember Bruce as an amazing, fun dad. She wants them to have the best memories of him.”
We have so much respect for the blended family putting Bruce’s health above all else — it really is a shining example of how people can come together to rally around a loved one. We’re sure that if anything, the memory of their familial closeness will make a lasting impression on the little ones.
As we mentioned earlier, the fam announced last week that the Red star’s initial aphasia diagnosis had developed into frontotemporal dementia, which affects the lobes of the brain behind the forehead, impacting speech, emotions, and personality. The family wrote in a statement at the time:
“Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately. We know in our hearts that — if he could today — he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.”
