Carol Kirkwood, 57, celebrated her birthday on Wednesday and Chris Evans, 53, couldn’t resist the opportunity to discuss the BBC weather presenter after they met up at a fundraising event earlier in the week. The radio personality spoke about the star on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, announcing: “Birthday today for Carol Kirkwood.” While referencing the charity brunch they were both invited to on the Isle of Wight, he added: “She came along for extra security as required. “Nobody messes with Carol and her cold fronts and her warm fronts.”
Chris’ co-host Vassos Alexander then found himself in a spot of confusion as he reiterated the same fact about Carol’s birthday.
The sports reporter said: “It’s her birthday today as well”, prompting Chris to joke: “I know, that’s what I just said.
“Thanks very much for listening. I mean like seconds before…”
Elsewhere, Carol took to Twitter to share how she would be spending her special day in view of her 155,000 followers.
The weather expert admitted to treating herself to a “lie-in”, which is a rare occurrence, as she usually gets up early to deliver her forecasts on BBC Breakfast.
Carol wrote: “Thank you so much for your lovely birthday wishes!
“Day started well with a long lie-in! ‘See’ you tomorrow xxx.”
The TV personality’s colleagues also shared their birthday messages with her on the social media platform.
Broadcaster Steph McGovern, 36, posted a snap with Carol alongside BBC co-stars Dan Walker, 42, Louise Minchin, 50, and Sally Nugent, 47.
She captioned the photo: “Happy Birthday to my gorgeous pal. Lady @carolkirkwood #TVfamily.”
To which Carol replied: “Awww thanks honey.”
The meteorologist’s fans joined the broadcasters in sending personalised well wishes in honour of the occasion.
One wrote: “Your absence from our screens this morning is duly forgiven… have a lovely day!!”
Another added: “Happy birthday Carol hope you have a great day.”
A third wrote: “Well deserved. Have a lovely day xx.”
A fourth tweeted the star: “Happy Birthday Carol! Enjoy your day off hope your weather has been full of sunshine today.”
BBC Breakfast airs everyday on BBC One at 6am.
