Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden announce name and gender of third child as they recall horrifying moment baby stopped breathing — EXCLUSIVE

Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have revealed the name and gender of their gorgeous newborn baby in an exclusive photoshoot and interview with OK! magazine.

Emmerdale actress Charley, 31, and her co-star husband, Matthew Wolfenden, 39, are joined on set of the family shoot by sons Buster, nine, Bowie, three, and their third little boy — Ace Gene.

The happy couple welcomed adorable Ace on 26 July, with him weighing 8lb 3oz. But unfortunately, the labour wasn't plain sailing, as the couple reveal the horrifying moment he was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck.

Recalling the scary moment, Charley said: "The umbilical cord was wrapped around Ace’s neck when he was born. It came off and he was passed to me but I could tell something was wrong.

"Ace wasn’t breathing at first – so the midwife had to press the panic button."

Doting dad Matthew added: "She said he’d cough and splutter, but he didn’t, so she had Ace on his front and was rubbing his back.

"Eventually – and it felt like an hour but it was probably just seconds – he coughed and was fine.

"By the time someone had come through the door from the panic button being pressed, Ace was breathing again, so it couldn’t have been long. Although it felt like a lifetime."

Charley continued: "I felt weirdly calm as I’d only just pushed him out and was a bit zoned out from the gas and air, although I was together enough to see that he wasn’t breathing."

Matthew went on to reveal: "I wasn’t. After I knew Ace was okay and breathing, I nearly threw up from the panic. I’d been so worried in those moments."

Following the panic, Charley and Matthew made the decision to have Ace's stem cells removed from his umbilical cord, meaning he could have his life saved if he gets ill in the future.

Charley explained: "Matthew cut his umbilical cord, although this time we had his stem cells removed from it.

"It’s a relatively new procedure but they’re stored so, God forbid he’s poorly in the future, doctors can use his stem cells.

"Also, if they match our other children, they could use them, too. I think more people should do it as it could save lives."

Matthew added: "I was quite pleased to be dealing with all of that afterwards, as it took my mind off what had just happened."

Charley announced on 29 July that she had welcomed baby number three into the world as she took to Instagram to share an adorable snap of Ace wearing a babygro adorned with the words "Baby Wolf".

She wrote alongside the photo: "BaByWoLf #3 has joined the crazy gang. We’re in a bubble of newborn’ness heaven."

During her third pregnancy, Charley opened up on suffering from morning sickness and SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction), a debilitating pelvic condition.

Charley revealed she was in "agony" after receiving the diagnosis, which causes stiff pelvic joints.

Admitting she thinks pregnancy is "amazing", the actress confessed that she didn’t enjoy getting bigger because of the pain.

She previously told OK! magazine: "I’d be lying if I said I really enjoy the experience of getting bigger. But I appreciate what my body is doing. I think pregnancy is amazing."

Charley added: "I still get waves of sickness but I’ve also been diagnosed with SPD [symphysis pubis dysfunction]. It’s when your muscles have relaxed too much ready for the birth. It’s agony."

She also explained that she wanted to give birth in a hospital to ease her anxiety, but husband Matthew wanted a home birth, saying: "Matthew’s up for a home birth but I’d like to be in a hospital for the sake of my own anxiety, in case anything went wrong."

The Debbie Dingle actress later opened up on how her third pregnancy was different to her first two, admitting: '" feel more tired than I did during my previous pregnancies.

"I just feel so sick and shattered all the time. This pregnancy does feel like my worst one, but I’m sure I think that every time!"
