Chris Evans has proven he’s still everyone’s Captain America hero when he slammed TV host Tomi Lahren over her comments on immigrants this week.
It’s not the first time the Avengers star has got political on his Twitter feed, but it makes it no less brilliant.
Earlier this week, conservative political commentator Tomi, 26, tweeted: ‘If you traipse your kid 2,000 miles in dangerous conditions you’re not only a criminal, you’re a sh***y parent.’
Perhaps it comes of no surprise her tweet incited the anger of many who flocked to the comments section to slam the host.
Chris just wasn’t having that as he shot back his own thoughts on her statement, citing its lack of respect while describing the lengths he’d go to to ensure his children’s’ safety.
‘Wow. The complete lack of sympathy, respect, and general awareness is astonishing,’ he wrote on Wednesday.
‘Also, I would carry my kid through fire if it meant escaping hell.’
He’s perhaps responding to the widespread reports of children being separated from their parents and held in centres – likened to ‘concentration camps’ – awaiting attention.
Seeing as he’s Captain America, we’re pretty keen to hear what he has to say. That’s how it works, right?
Nevertheless Chris, 38, had a lot of support in his replies.
Not just wading into immigration conversations – in which President Donald Trump’s stance on the treatment of undocumented arrivals at the border is questioned by many – the actor recently lashed out at the organisation Super Happy Fun America, who were attempting to push through a pride parade for heterosexuals this August in Boston because ‘straight people are an oppressed majority’.
‘Wow! Cool initiative, fellas!!’ Chris wrote online, having come up against Tomi once again as she rallied behind the three men trying to take a stand no one asked for.
‘Just a thought, instead of ‘Straight Pride’ parade, how about this: The “desperately trying to bury our own gay thoughts by being homophobic because no one taught us how to access our emotions as children” parade?
‘Whatta ya think? Too on the nose??’
He also recently landed a blow to Kanye West, when the rapper sported his controversial Maga hat and talking about why he likes Trump during his September hosting gig of Saturday Night Live.
Taking to Twitter, he unleashed all his Avengers might on the rapper, by re-tweeting his image, taken on his private jet, of course, matched with Chris’ thoughts.
‘There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue,’ he wrote.
‘The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.’
