We’ve been following Miley Cyrus’ love life for years now, and it’s still a shock to many that she and Liam Hemsworth are no longer a couple. The two originally met a decade ago when they worked on a movie together and have been on and off ever since, though they officially called it quits over the summer of 2019 after tying the knot in December 2018. It seems the two may be headed to court over their divorce in 2020 — but for now, Cyrus has totally moved on to a romance with Australian singing sensation Cody Simpson.
Simpson and Cyrus have been quite open with the public regarding their relationship, and Simpson often takes to Instagram to share small clips of his life involving Cyrus. Recently, he added a few photos of himself with a caption that reminded his fans of his girlfriend. And Simpson claimed Cyrus actually hacked his account.
Cody Simpson and Miley Cyrus appear to have a strong relationship
There are plenty of Cyrus and Hemsworth fans who are still rooting for the exes to reconcile their differences and resume their romance, but that doesn’t appear to be likely. While Hemsworth was spotted getting cozy with actress Maddison Brown, Cyrus has made it clear she’s in it for the long haul with Simpson.
It turns out Simpson has lusted after Cyrus for quite some time, too. Back in 2012, he told Fuse during an interview, “Miley Cyrus has always been my childhood celebrity crush. … I was a big Miley Cyrus fan and I think she will be forever the most dateable Disney star.”
Now, Simpson maintains that he and Cyrus make the perfect match. “The reason why it hasn’t been a really crazy sudden thing is just because we’ve been friends for so long,” he told People. And he also added that now that he and Cyrus are both out of their party phases, they’re just working on creating good art and accomplishing their dreams.
They post about each other to Instagram
The best way for a modern couple to show their love is to post about each other to Instagram, and that’s exactly what Cyrus and Simpson do. While they often feature each other in their Instagram Stories (which disappear after 24 hours), they have a few more permanent posts, too.
Simpson recently posted a cute video of him staying silent while Cyrus is recovering from vocal chord surgery. And Cyrus posted a cute video of her and Simpson dancing around her living room — though she seemed to take it down after her eagle-eyed fans noticed the video was taken in the same location of her wedding to Hemsworth.
Simpson and Cyrus may be happy, but many of their followers think their romance shouldn’t be happening.
“I can’t believe you chose this over Liam,” one follower commented on a video of Simpson and Cyrus dancing.
“Midlife crisis = dating Cody Simpson,” another wrote.
Simpson said his latest post was ‘hacked’ by Cyrus
Simpson hasn’t posted any new photos or videos of Cyrus to his Instagram since the end of November — and it looks like his followers are antsy for some new content. More recently, he’s been posting some of his poetry and promoting a “no plastic challenge” instead. And his recent post of some of his modeling shots seemed to also get some attention.
“You don’t deserve it but I will feed you anyway,” Simpson captioned a few photos of himself.
To that, a Cyrus fan account commented, “The most Miley caption I’ve ever seen.”
Simpson noticed the caption and added, “@everythingmiley hacked.”
The account wrote back, “Of course, I’m not even surprised,” along with a crying-laughing emoji.
Did Cyrus really take over Simpson’s account to create the caption? We’re not sure if Simpson was serious or just messing around with his followers — but any mention of Cyrus on his page gets him tons of attention.
