Death in Paradise star Shyko Amos forced to fly back from USA amid coronavirus concerns

In view of her 2,592 Instagram followers, Death in Paradise star Shykos Amos told fans New York City was “eerily quiet” due to the coronavirus outbreak. The actress said she was hoping she would be able to fly back to the UK as the country announced plans to extend their travel ban.

At first, the BBC star shared a picture of the famous Macy’s store with the caption: “My NYC trip has been cut short.

“As of tomorrow, UK [is] also included in the ban. I mean this place is empty and it’s normally packed,” she added.

Alongside her main caption, she added: “[Fingers crossed] I can get home 2nite.”(sic)

Shyko followed up her post with a video from her apartment.

She told fans: “It’s kind of been eerily quite, I have to say.

“Anyone who’s been to Times Square, Elstree and Midtown, knows these areas are like so busy and it’s literally so quiet.

“There’s nobody in the shops and just no one around, it’s a bit awkward.

“Broadway is closed, everything is closed, so there’s not really much to do here,” she added.

“So yeah, I’m, just praying that I get home.”

The Death in Paradise star followed up her post with a video of her on a plane.

She then filmed herself walking through the airport as she excitedly said to the camera: “I made it!”

From today, the US has extended their European travel ban to include the UK and Republic of Ireland.

At a press conference on Saturday, Vice President Mike Pence said: “Americans in the UK or Ireland can come home. Legal residents can come home.

He added the residents will be “funnelled through specific airports and processed”.

The coronavirus death toll in the US is currently at 69, with over 3000 more confirmed cases.

The virus has reached 49 states including Washington, DC, New York and Puerto Rico.

COVID-19 has been responsible for over 6,5000 deaths worldwide.

So far in the UK, 35 people have lost their lives after being diagnosed with the virus.

The number of confirmed UK cases of the virus is currently at 1,372.

A number of events worldwide have been postponed as the Government try to combat the outbreak.
