VMAs: Lil Wayne, Doja Cat and Olivia Rodrigo to perform
Doja Cat meant business as she took to the stage of the VMAs, or more accurately the stairs.
The 27-year-old has been dubbed by many as one of the most creative minds in the music industry, leaving some high expectations for her 2023 awards show performance.
When the singer arrived on the pink carpet in a raunchy dress made entirely of lace in the illusion of a spider web leaving very little to the imagination, viewers expected a similarly borderline X-rated ensemble for her performance.
However, Doja Cat ditched her signature style when she appeared ready for business in a smart grey suit jacket, buttoned-up white shirt and pinstriped pencil skirt with an ombre wig pulled into a messy bun and some smart spectacles balancing on her nose.
In a dainty reference to her new releases, she paired the grey-and-white look with bright red ankle-high boots which soon matched the rest of her look as the singer began to strip down.

Doja Cat performed a triple medley of her biggest hits from the last year, namely Attention, Paint the Town Red and Demons.
Throughout her first number, she thrilled fans in the audience as she walked down the steps with her entourage of backup dancers all covered in red paint, bodysuits, and wigs.
The Woman singer dipped out the spotlight between songs, running between stages to meet up with her backup dancers for Paint The Town Red and appeared without her blazer and glasses.
Doja also scandalously began unbuttoning her shirt on stage, giving audiences a peek at the bright red bra she was wearing, tying in with her red-themed looks in reference to the song.

As the final chords of Paint the Town Red played, the rapper disappeared behind her group of dancers while the hauntingly chanted her lyrics and she could be seen frantically whipping her hair around and throwing items to the side of the stage.
When the singer stepped out of the group to start her hit track Demons she had let her hair loose and unbuttoned her shirt even further, also seemingly shifting her pencil skirt around so the small slit was now directly in front of her, revealing more bright red undergarments as she flashed the camera.
Aside from her jaw-dropping performance, Doja spent much of the evening waiting in anticipation as she had been nominated for six awards; Art Direction, Video of the Year, Song of the Summer, Director, Collaboration, and Artist of the Year.
She ultimately ended up taking home the award for Best Art Direction for her hit music video Attention.
