Michelle Dockery and Elizabeth McGovern make their way out of the Today show studios on Monday morning (September 16) in New York City.
The ladies joined their co-stars – Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Allen Leech, Jim Carter and Kevin Doyle – join Studio 1A to discuss the release of their anticipated Downton Abbey movie, which hits theaters in the U.S. on September 20.
“We had more time, it’s always a bit of a luxury to have time,” Michelle Dockery said of adapting the series for a film. “Everything was slightly on a grander scale in every department. We were very aware of making it for the cinema.”
Hugh Bonneville also talked about the possibility of a second film: “I think so. The door is still open at the end of the film,” he said. “I think if we all linked arms and jumped into the pond together, a sequel could happen.”
