Eamonn Holmes, 61, and Ruth Langsford, 60, have returned to ITV screens this week as they present alongside each other on This Morning. Amid their return, some fans took to social media to call the presenter out, claiming he fat-shamed his wife Ruth. Eamonn has since addressed the situation.
While presenting alongside each other on Tuesday’s episode of This Morning, the couple spoke of a new beauty treatment.
Talking of how fat can form under the chin and neck, Eamonn pointed out his own neck as he ruffled it.
Ruth went on to talk of how extra fat under the chin area can happen to “all of us”.
She added: “It can happen to us all, and it suddenly happens, doesn’t it? Haven’t you found?”
“One minute I’m like ‘Oh, that’s alright’ and then suddenly, I don’t know, I hit 50 and was like, ‘What’s that?'”
Eamonn jibed: “I can’t make a comment on it, darling, because people online will accuse me of shaming you for some reason. So, you may read the rest of this, darling.”
The presenter’s remark was made hours after fans of This Morning called him out on social media for ‘fat shaming’ Ruth on Monday’s episode.
The comment came as he and Ruth played the game It’s Behind You on the show, which involved them trying to guess who was on a screen behind them.
As part of the game, callers would call in to offer clues with one saying “thin and married to…” as they described Kate Middleton pictured behind the This Morning presenters.
Before they could finish the clue, Eammon interrupted, saying: “She’s very thin… well it’s not you darling.”
At the time, many fans of the show took to Twitter as they questioned Eamonn for his comment against Ruth.
One wrote: “Is it me or did Eamonn just call Ruth fat on #ThisMorning ?!?!”

A third questioned: “Did Eamonn just call Ruth fat?”
This comes after Ruth shared a video of her and Eamonn on This Morning in celebration of Valentine’s Day.
The video saw Eamonn swipe: “Lip filler, chin implants facelifts nose jobs but enough about Ruth…”(sic)
Laughing it off, Ruth said: “Oh, stop it! You’re in so much trouble today.”
Captioning the post she wrote: “He’s been making me laugh for 24 years… here’s to many more years @eamonnholmes Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Speaking ahead of their appearance on This Morning, she added: “On @thismorning all this week…hope you can join us 10.00 am @itv See you there! x #valentine #eamonnholmes #thismorning #itv.”
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10am.
