Gemma Atkinson, 35, has revealed she has received help from a physiotherapist after suffering pain in her shoulder via an online consultation. The Strictly Come Dancing star has been unable to attend her regular physio appointments due to restrictions put in place during the coronavirus lockdown.
The former Hollyoaks actress explained she also managed to get some advice for her step dad, who has encountered problems with his knee.
She wrote in view of her 1.4 million Instagram followers: “Cannot thank @t4physoio enough!
“Online consultation to help with my shoulder pain and my step dad’s knee.
“Simple exercises to help prevent/treat injury until we can physically get back in.”

After sharing her news, Gemma was inundated with questions from fans about the rehabilitation she has been doing to help her injury.
However, the radio presenter insisted she is not qualified to make any suggestions herself.
Gemma added in a separate post: “To those asking what rehab I did/do for my shoulder, I’m sorry but my physio prescribed them for me and my specific injury (from years ago) it’s flared up because I’m not able to get in for my monthly treatments.
“I’m not qualified un any way to suggest what you should do with your injuries so that’s why I’m not sharing.
“I’d hate to make any of you feel worse.”
Gemma then advised her followers to seek help from professionals in their local area.
She concluded her post by saying: “My advice is to look up professionals in your area and ask them.”
Gemma has been keeping fans up to date with her health and fitness journey during lockdown.

Earlier this month, the mum-of-one spoke out about her decision to become a vegetarian.
Gemma shared a photo of herself smiling on her exercise bike and explained her choice to not eat meat in a lengthy caption.
She penned: “I’m not going to tell anyone what to eat, but I will tell all the people who said that my training & health would suffer by being vegetarian, that they were wrong.
“I gave up all red meat in my 20s. I still had fish and chicken but it never sat well with me mentally.

“I was constantly going between ‘all animals deserve to live’ to, ‘but I need to eat protein to be healthy’. It dawned on me that meat is just a source of protein, along with many other sources of protein.”
Gemma, who is also a passionate animal rights activist, went on to reveal she became a vegetarian in November last year and described the lifestyle change as “the best decision” she has ever made.
The star first addressed her lifestyle change in an interview with Women’s Health magazine earlier this year.
She clarified that she’s got nothing against those who do eat meat, including her beau Gorka, in a social media post at the time.
Gemma said: “FYI. I’ve nothing against anyone eating meat. Gorka is Spanish, so he’s never gonna stop eating ham!”(sic)
