Handwritten lyrics for U2‘s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” which also featured frontman Bono‘s signature, sold for a whopping £76,000 in an auction.
The One Love Covid-19 Relief auction, which took place on Thursday, May 21, was organized by Island Records in support of NHS Charities Together & Feeding America. The auction included “one-of-a-kind” donations from Island artists old and new as well as friends of the label.
The lots also included handwritten and signed lyrics by Annie Lennox for “Sweet Dreams” as well as a tour of the Abbey Road music studios in London.
The auction was hosted by actor, singer and composer Billy Porter. It raised £179,755.
Speaking about the auction, Island Records President Louis Bloom said, “I’d like to thank all our amazing artists, our US counterparts at Island US and Republic, all our media partners, Omega Auctions and every last member of the Island team who have worked tirelessly to get this auction together in such a short space of time.”
