Up until January, it seemed like every day there was some exciting news about the upcoming Lizzie McGuire reboot. Remember when Hilary Duff cut her hair and got bangs like her iconic character? Or when we found out that she and Gordo probably wouldn’t even end up together because the show “wanted it to hurt everyone a little bit”? But the only thing that hurt more than the potential end of Lizzie and Gordo’s blossoming relationship was when the Disney+ show went on hiatus earlier this year.
Luckily though, the writers recently held a virtual meeting and Hilary previously told People, “There’s still conversations going on in hopes that we can find a way to meet in the middle and both bend a little bit.” So there’s still some hope!!
While speaking with Cosmopolitan about her new partnership with Kohl’s and how she curated special gifts (think: AirPods, leggings, and bracelets) ahead of Mother’s Day, Hilary theorized how Lizzie would feel if Paolo or Miranda were to hypothetically show up during the reboot.
In case you forgot, Miranda didn’t star in The Lizzie McGuire movie because her character was said to be visiting family in Mexico. As for Paolo, he betrayed Lizzie when he tried to set her up in an effort to embarrass his fellow pop star, Isabella. Fast forward 17 years and Miranda is still sorely missed. Paolo, on the other hand, can get lost as far as most fans are concerned.
So, what would Lizzie’s take on all of this be? Hilary shared:
Fair! He treated Lizzie like crap! Disney, if you’re listening, please don’t even waste any screen time on Paolo unless it’s to show us how much his career has tanked since he didn’t have Isabella to lean on. Please and thank you!
