Hulu’s new show Conversations with Friends drops on May 15, and it’s exciting for several reasons: 1. this is a follow-up (ish) to Normal People, which was obviously amazing and caused us all to fall in love with Paul Mescal and his chain necklace, and 2. Joe Alwyn is in it and he has several pretty !!!! sex scenes.
And if you’re inevitably wondering how Taylor Swift feels about said sex scenes, Joe told Extra “I mean, she’s read the book and she loves the book, so she knows it. And she just, like, couldn’t be a bigger fan of the project.”
Joe’s costar co-star Alison Oliver also noted that “We worked with an intimacy coordinator. You go through, like, a lot of rehearsal and kind of in-depth conversations about the intimate scenes and kind of what story we’re trying to tell. Hopefully, each intimate scene feels different or there’s some kind of progression in their relationship.”
Joe is obviously doing a ton of press for Conversations with Friends, but he’s notoriously/understandably private about his relationship with Taylor, so don’t expect too much tea. Example? WSJ. Magazine went ahead and asked if they were engaged and he said “I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”
He also noted, “I don’t really mind if people call me that. I think people having a private life is important to understand people’s interest in what’s going on behind closed doors. I think it’s nice to draw a line as well and keep what’s important and close to you private.”
Fair enough!
