Instagram is getting rid of the “Following” activity tab, which was first introduced in 2011.
If you don’t know, the “Following” activity tab is located in the section to check out your Instagram likes. It allowed people to see what their friends were “liking” across the platform. The heart tab will now only show who is interacting with your own photos.
“People didn’t always know that their activity is surfacing,” Vishal Shah, Instagram’s head of product, told BuzzFeed in a statement. “So you have a case where it’s not serving the use case you built if for, but it’s also causing people to be surprised when their activity is showing up.”
The change is expected to roll out this week.
This isn’t the first change Instagram has instituted in the past few months.
