Friends fans have been left in shock after a TikTok user exposed Jennifer Aniston's "vocal tic" on the show.
Account cts.trphe took to his social media page to reply to another who asked: "What is a trope in media that once you saw it, you couldn't unsee it?"
He then launched into a rant about how the 52 year old actress, who previously sparked speculation she's back with ex-husband Brad Pitt, tends to clear her throat before starting a sentence, especially in circumstances where her character isn't sure what to say or is about to say something particularly funny.
"Okay so technically this isn't a trope, but what I'm about to say is going to ruin your life especially if you are a big fan of the show Friends," he started.

"It's very specific and it's very hard to unsee, once you notice it."
A montage of different scenes from Friends then played out, with Jennifer clearing her throat in different situations before launching into a speech or a witty remark.

When it ended, the TikTok user panned the camera onto himself and mimicked the action as he said "ahem" before giving the camera a shocked face expression.
While some were clearly taken aback by the revelation, die-hard fans couldn't help but try to defend Jennifer's "vocal tic" as one person wrote: "she did smoke alot on set and back then thats prob why". [sic]
Another thought it was simply part of her character's person as they said: "i thought it was just like acting? to indicate that the character is like uncomfy she only seems to do it in situations that are a little awkward". [sic]

While a third claimed the actress, who recently looked youthful after a blonde hair transformation, stuttered when she was younger and used the throat clearing trick as a method to keep it under control.
They said: "Its bcz she used to stutter really bad and her speech teachers taught her this Technique that actually works very well". [sic]
While there is no information about Jennifer having a stutter, according to Healthline, a smoker's cough can become chronic if the person in question smokes every day. It can cause "wheezing and crackling noises associated with phlegm in your throat."
