Jeremy Clarkson Twitter: ‘Don’t be an idiot’ The Grand Tour host branded ‘buffoon’ in spat

Jeremy Clarkson, 59, found himself under fire from actress Harry Potter and Wire in the Blood star Flip Webster on the topic of whether cars, pollution and roads.“Re your vid,” she tweeted The Grand Tour host, in view of her 177 followers. “Yes Holland Park (rich) lovely tree-lined road spoiled only by the vehicles travelling up n down. Good luck ingesting particles with your coffee, talking above the traffic noise about polluting cycles.”(sic) The former Top Gear presenter soon hit back in front of his own 7.2 million Twitter followers, bluntly stating: “It’s a road. Roads are for cars.”

“Blimey, didn’t know the Romans built roads for cars,” she snapped sarcastically.

“Most roads were originally formed by carts, horses and people walking, if we’re being elitist then maybe cars should only use roads specially built for them like motorways.”

Jeremy then proceeded to follow suit with the snide quips, replying: “Don’t be an idiot. Holland Park Avenue wasn’t built by the Romans.”

It seemed Flip may have had a point, however, as she went on to share an excerpt from the Ladbroke Association’s website which said the road in question did in fact date back to pre-Roman times.

“‘Holland Park Avenue is one of London’s most ancient thoroughfares,’” she tweeted.

“‘The Romans made it their main road into London from Silchester and the West, but it probably existed as an ancient British trackway long before that.’ Labroke Assoc.”

To top it off, the actress added: “Buffoon!”

Jeremy has yet to reply to her last post.

According to the Labroke Association, Holland Park Avenue ran through a ‘densely forested area” in Roman times.

It later deteriorated after the Romans left, with a smaller thoroughfare which ran parallel to it – now High Street Kensington –  taking over as the main way into London from the West.

Meanwhile, Jeremy is known for being outspoken with his opinions on Twitter.

This week, The Grand Tour host Jeremy Clarkson was mocked by footballer James Maddison after he hit out at the Leicester City star over his skills during their game against Chelsea.

The presenter joked the sportsman was spending too much time at the barber’s and not enough working on his technique after he failed to score.

“James Maddison. Too long at the barbers. Not enough time practising football,” he tweeted.

However, James, 22, was quick with a comeback, replying: “Stick to cars mate. Can count on 1 hand how many trims you’ve got left #thin.”(sic)

The Grand Tour season 4 returns to Amazon Prime Video later this year.
