John Legend says he and Kanye West haven’t patched up since the musicians sparred over President Donald Trump two years ago.
The singer-songwriter, who has long been a friend of the rapper, discussed the status of their friendship in an interview with the Sunday Times.
“I don’t think we’re less friends because of the Trump thing. I just think we’re doing our own thing. He’s up in Wyoming. I’m here in L.A. We’ve both got growing families and I no longer have a formal business relationship with him as an artist, so I think it’s just part of the natural cycle of life,” Legend said.
Their fallout over Trump occurred in 2018 over the support West declared for the president on Twitter.
Legend said that he and West “never talked about politics before,” and that their interaction was “almost always about creativity and music.”
“He’s also in a different place musically. He’s doing gospel music.
That’s what he’s focused on right now, designing his clothes, so we’re in different places,” the “All Of Me” singer added.
