Johnny Depp was hoping that his defamation trial agaisnt ex-wife Amber Heard would be delayed, and it was just announced that it would be.
A Fairfax County Virginia judge revealed that the lawsuit would have to be delayed until a future date, not because of filming on Fantastic Beasts 3, where the 57-year-old actor stars as Gellert Grindelwald, but because of coronavirus.
Circuit Court Chief Judge Bruce White has pushed the trial back from January 11, 2021 to to May 3, 2021, Deadline reports.
“Right now, the Virginia Supreme Court has not authorized us to conduct jury trials,” Judge White shared with the lawyers for both actors.
Johnny first put in a request for the delay due to his filming, and Amber was against that filing.
She had even filed a counter suit against Johnny for organization a smear campaign against her.
Just recently, Johnny thanked his fans for standing by his side during his legal battles.
