Kanye West announced on Tuesday that his “Mary” opera will be performed at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall in New York City on December 22.
West debuted his “Mary” opera, directed by Vanessa Beecroft, at the Miami Marine Stadium during Art Basel Miami on December 9. His debut opera, “Nebuchadnessar,” featuring Sheck Wes, premiered at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl in California in November.
“Mary” will feature music from West’s Sunday Service choir. Tickets for the event are now available at the Lincoln Center website, with prices ranging from about $200 to $300.
West said in a recent interview with Vogue that the opera was originally titled “Birth of Christ.”
“God put it all together. I’ll tell you what, when I don’t apply grace, I don’t get the results I’m looking for,” he said. “Everything must be done with grace. That’s one of the things I pray for and I need to pray for more.”
