Kathryn Dennis is dealing with a devastating loss.
The “Southern Charm” star’s mother, Allison Calhoun Dennis, died at 59 years old. It is unclear if she passed on Wednesday, but a local funeral home lists her date of death as August 7.
Allison, a descendent of John C. Calhoun, was extremely close with Kathryn, 28, and is survived by her husband, Luke Dennis, her son, Luke Dennis Jr., and grandchildren Kensie and Saint.
“Their family requests privacy while they mourn with the sad loss,” a source close to Dennis told People. “They’re very private people and they want their time to cope.”
She previously told the outlet: “My mom’s my best friend. She stuck by me through so much. I don’t know what I would do without her.”
The reality star added that her mom lived with her after she retired from her job at Santee Cooper Water Service.
“She was sick for a year and a half and I was taking care of her,” she said. “She’s since been living with me, essentially. It’s great to have her around, especially because she’s so good with the kids. She’s amazing. She’s the best mom I could ever hope for with everything.”
