Korn‘s Jonathan Davis shared a note on the 20th anniversary of the band’s fourth studio album, Issues.
In a brief note posted to social media along with the cover art for the 1999 LP, Davis wrote, “Happy 20th to this record where I fought to stay sober and deal with my anxiety.”
Korn’s Issues, released in November 1999, peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s all-genre 200 chart and sold at least 3,047,076 copies in the U.S.
Korn are currently touring in support of The Nothing, their latest full-length album that dropped in September.
“I felt like I had this dark energy around me, which I called ‘the nothing,’ so it’s a very dark record,” Davis told Billboard in September while discussing The Nothing.
“The first record was me getting out all my demons from birth through high school. On this album, death is a theme that runs through the whole thing,” he added. “It’s this entity, this force, which made me deal with depression, pain, suffering and trying to come to terms with it. It’s me grieving. It was very emotional; I was crying and s–t.”
