Lacey Turner has opened up on suffering two heartbreaking miscarriages and her worries that history would repeat itself after falling pregnant again.
The 31-year-old EastEnders star gave birth to a baby girl named Dusty in July 2019 with husband Matt Kay, however, before this the soap star suffered two miscarriages that meant she “couldn’t allow herself to be excited” about her pregnancy, following the heartbreak.
Lacey, who lost two of her babies at just seven weeks pregnant, spoke to the Sun Online about her turmoil, saying: “I found pregnancy quite difficult as I couldn’t allow myself to be excited because of previous experiences, so it seemed very long.”

She continued: “I was fascinated with my body and the changes it made and how incredible it is, but I also found the adjustments very hard at times especially towards the end.”
Lacey candidly opened up in celebration of Fabulous’ Mum of the Year competition; a competition which seeks out mums who deserve extra recognition after overcoming adversity.
She added: “Being a mother is by far the hardest job I have ever done in my life. But it's also the best thing in the world.

"It has changed me because it makes you see everything differently. It highlights what’s important and what isn’t! I think I’m much more chilled out now I’m a mother.”
The star, who plays Stacey Slater in BBC soap EastEnders, is currently on maternity leave following the birth of her baby girl.

Opening up further on motherhood, Lacey added: “Somehow we manage to juggle everything and everyone and yet we still feel guilty for certain things. I think until you have done it you can’t understand how challenging it is yet so rewarding.
“I think every mother out there is amazing and deserves all the recognition out there.”
Speaking about her journey so far with baby Dusty, Lacey claimed things had been “a dream,” adding: “I have an amazing support system of family and friends.

"I think the most challenging thing about the early days is the sleep deprivation! Everything seems so much harder when you're so tired.
"Things that have a simple solution your brain just doesn’t function the same as a rested brain."
After giving birth, Lacey spoke to OK! Magazine to explain the reasoning behind her daughter’s name, saying: “It wasn't on our original list but we did an internet search for 'pretty girls' names and we both said it at the same time!
"Her middle name is Violet, which I also love.”
