Lauren Goodger’s baby Lorena died after she was born with two knots in her umbilical cord

Lauren Goodger has heartbreakingly spoken out after her baby daughter, Lorena, died just minutes after giving birth, explaining that "her oxygen may have been restricted because she had two knots in her cord".

The 35 year old – who gave birth to her second daughter with partner Charles Drury, 24, on 8 July – announced the devastating news of her baby's passing two days later.

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren has now bravely opened up about the ordeal, saying it has been "the most traumatic experience" of her life.

Lauren told The Sun: “Lorena was a healthy baby and it was a textbook pregnancy. They think her oxygen may have been restricted because she had two knots in her cord but normally babies can still get enough oxygen despite this."

She added: “Lorena should be here with me. I held her and she looked like she was sleeping. I thought she would wake up. This has been the most traumatic experience of my life."

A spokesperson for The Queen’s Hospital in Romford told the newspaper: “We would like to express our sincere condolences to Lauren and her family on the tragic loss of baby Lorena.

“Lauren was brought to our hospital in an ambulance after her midwife was unable to detect a heartbeat during a home birth, and despite the best efforts of our staff, sadly we were unable to resuscitate Lorena.”

The reality star – who also shares daughter Larose, who turned one just 12 days after Lauren lost Lorena, with Charles – announced the news in a heart-wrenching Instagram post on 10 July.

Starting her post by announcing her daughter's beautiful name alongside an angel emoji and the date 8.07.22, Lauren wrote: "She was the most beautiful healthy baby I’ve ever seen just like her sister @babylarose.x.

"Words can't describe as a mother losing your baby that I carried for all these months perfectly and gave birth too for my angel to be taken from me.

"There was no pregnancy or labour complications and she was fine & healthy but I am not going into detail right now just know that there was nothing wrong with her or myself she was perfect.

"I can't understand it she is so so beautiful Larose twin so similar.. I am broken.

"I am back home from hospital Me & Charlie spent as much time with our baby girl Lorena and I haven’t said my goodbye yet."

Charles wrote in his own devastating statement at the time: "I promise you i'll look after your mummy & sister forever, just look over us all & keep me strong, show me signs that you’re up in heaven where you belong. I’m sorry it had to be this way but I know we’ll be together again some day.

"This isn’t something I thought I’d ever have to write but I’m so proud to be your daddy, I’ll see you soon baby girl but for now sleep tight."
