LOVE ISLAND 2019: WHO ARE THE WINNERS AND THE RUNNERS-UP?
Out on top! Amber went through a tricky time in the villa with Michael Griffiths treating her badly, yet has emerged victorious
WINNER: AMBER GILL
Age: 21
Job pre-Love Island: Beauty Therapist and model for Fash1
Comes from: Newcastle
Amber described herself, before heading into Love Island, as a ‘diva’, a ‘big personality’, and a 10/10 in terms of looks because ‘you’ve got to back yourself’.
She said, ahead of entering the show, that her ‘type’ was actor Tom Hardy.
Her father is from Trinidad and Tobago. She has a sister called Lauren.
Her Instagram account, back in May, boasted just 6k followers, but it has now rocketed up to 1.7m.
Amber is rumoured to have undergone a £400 bum lift before heading into the villa.
When she first appeared on the show, a social media post resurfaced in which she claimed she ‘doesn’t like black guys’. She was accused of being racist, but the matter was cleared up by her rep, who explained she had simply been attempting to get a pestering man to leave her alone that evening.
She was already pals with Love Island alumni Adam Collard and Ellie Brown.
She said, ahead of the show: ‘I’ve never cheated. I am not planning on having a wandering eye. I’ve been cheated on several times. I’m not as naive as I was then, I’ve just learnt to be careful from it. Not everyone has your best interests at heart.’
WINNER: GREG O’SHEA
Age: 24
Job pre-Love Island: Pro rugby player – wing and fullback
Comes from: Limerick, Ireland
Sport runs in Greg’s family. His father Niall and mother Carol were both sprinters for Ireland. He has roots in Hong Kong on his maternal grandfather’s side. He has a sister named Laura.
At the age of seven, Greg started playing rugby with local club Shannon. He went to Crescent College and won Junior Cups in 2010 and 2011. He then won the Munster Schools Rugby Senior Cup in 2013.
Following in his parents’ footsteps, Greg was also a sprinter; when he was 16 he competed for Ireland at the 2011 European Youth Olympics 100m, quitting shortly after.
In 2015, Greg lacerated his Achilles tendon when he fell off a bike and took a year to recover. After getting better, he joined the Ireland national sevens team. He then went on to play for Ireland at the 2017 Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series, where Ireland finished second behind Russia. He then made the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens squad and the Ireland squad for the 2019 Hong Kong Sevens qualifier, helping the team win the tournament and qualify for the World Rugby Sevens Series.
Going for gold! Sporty Greg is a professional rugby player – and admitted before entering the villa that ‘nothing gets in my way’ when he sets his sights on something
Silver medal! Tommy was relatively known before Love Island thanks to his older brother Tyson
RUNNER-UP: TOMMY FURY
Age: 20
Job pre-Love Island: Boxer
Comes from: Manchester
Tommy was already known pre-Love Island as the younger half-brother of boxer Tyson Fury. Ahead of entering the villa, he said: ‘I don’t want to be labelled as his little brother, I’m my own man and I’m doing the best that I can do in life and that’s all I’m setting out to achieve.’
It’s been reported that Tyson wasn’t impressed with Tommy’s decision to go into reality TV, and fans were disappointed when Tyson didn’t appear in the ‘meet the family’ episode, with his mother Chantal and older brother Roman visiting the villa instead.
Tommy’s father is former Heavyweight boxer John Fury. He has other half-brothers, Shane and John Jr, all with different mothers.
Tommy’s extensive family – which also includes a slew of boxer cousins such as Hughie Fury, Hosea Burton and Andy Lee – are from a travelling background.
Tommy’s Instagram following has reached 2m since entering the villa.

She is the ex-girlfriend of Leicester City’s James Maddison and said ahead of her Love Island debut: ‘All the dates I’ve been on have been guys from Instagram. A few footballers have slid into my DMs. It’s all just superficial and on the surface. And then you get to know them and they’re just a bang average “Jack the Lad”.’
She was also linked to DJ Nathan Dawe – who she is said to have been romancing just a week before entering the show.
She was also already pals with last year’s Love Islanders Kendall Rae-Knight and Rosie Williams.
She has a sister named Zoe who is in the army.
Molly-Mae’s career as an influencer has seen her travel to the likes of Bali, Amsterdam and California. On YouTube she has 100,000 subscribers and has produced fashion, beauty and travel videos on the platform.

AMBER GILL & GREG O SHEA
The path to happiness was a rocky one for Amber, who is the only Islander to have remained in the villa from the start.
She was initially paired with Callum – who was the first boy to be dumped from the series just five days in. This led to a platonic coupling with Anton.
Michael – a fellow original – then told Amber he had feelings for her and they coupled up. But when Amber was whisked away to Casa Amor, Michael’s head was turned by Joanna. When Amber returned to the main villa, Michael had re-coupled. Amber was left single once again. She told Michael she still liked him, but he rejected her advances.
Later, in a shock dumping, Joanna was sent home alone, leaving Michael single again – and conveniently interested in Amber once more. It was at this point Greg was sent in.
Amber enjoyed a date with the rugby pro and was tasked with choosing between him and Michael, ultimately choosing Greg. Michael ended up being voted out.
Since this, Greg and Amber have become close. They survived the final dumping and odds then plummeted on them scooping the prize.
INDIA REYNOLDS & OVIE SOKO
Both India and Ovie were late arrivals to the villa.
Ovie came first, appearing in Casa Amor and turning Anna’s head, who had left Jordan behind in the main villa.
Anna was wooed by Ovie and she decided to re-couple with him. They returned to the main villa together which left Jordan single as a result.
Fans immediately took a liking to Ovie, but felt sorry for Jordan at the same time, who was sure to let Anna know he wanted her back.
This worked; Anna ended up re-coupling with Jordan again – only for him later to ask her to be his girlfriend but then change his mind a day later. They were booted form the series, having broken up, last week.
India had arrived in the meantime and been sent on a date with Chris, but it was Ovie she had her eye on. Ovie, who had by this time found himself in a platonic coupling with Amber, began to like India as well, and the two ended up as a final coupling, sailing through to the final.
But fans called for Ovie to win on his own, as it’s been suggested that India’s short time in the villa hasn’t allowed viewers the chance to warm to her.
Solo effort? Fans have said Ovie should win on his own
Too obvious? Tommy and Molly-Mae are considered the favourites
MOLLY-MAE HAGUE & TOMMY FURY
Boxer Tommy and ‘influencer’ Molly-Mae were widely considered to be the favourtites to scoop the £50k prize.
They have been coupled up the longest of all the final couples and have mostly been exclusive to one another while in the villa. They are also the only boyfriend/girlfriend pairing and have said ‘I love you’ to each other.
But their romance has not been without it’s issues.
Tommy was initially interested in former-Islander Lucie, and was trying to sway her away from previous contestant Joe. Lucie’s head nearly turned but ultimately she went for Joe.
Molly-Mae then entered the villa and picked Tommy for a Jacuzzi date. He instantly took a liking to her and they coupled up.
Molly-Mae, however, had her doubts about the hunk. But Maura then entered the villa with her sights on Tommy, which made Molly-Mae realise she liked him after all.
Despite some casual flirting with Maura, Tommy chose Molly-Mae. They have been coupled up ever since, with Lucie seen pining for Tommy on the sidelines before she too was dumped from the show.
MAURA HIGGINS & CURTIS PRITCHARD
Curtis arrived a day after everyone else, alongside Tommy, and caught the eye of Amy. The pair coupled up and were the most solid couple of the show for the first half of the series, branding each other ‘half-boyfriend and half-girlfriend’.
But a spanner was thrown into the works when the girls left for Casa Amor. While Amy waited for Curtis, his interest was piqued by newcomer Jourdan, despite her showing no romantic interest in him.
Jourdan paired up with Danny. Curtis remained coupled up with Amy, who returned to the villa to tell him she loved him. This, however, was ruined when Curtis broke up with her, causing her to go home, devastated.
At this point, Maura – who had previously been interested in Tommy, Tom and Marvin – decided she would go after the ballroom pro.
The pair then coupled up and have been together since, despite suffering occasional tiffs and fans not being convinced it’s genuine. Even Maura’s mother seemed unimpressed by Curtis when she visited the villa in the ‘meet the family’ episode on Sunday night.
Fake? Viewers – and Curtis and Maura’s own parents – don’t seem convinced by this coupling
