Music producer Mark Ronson has admitted he “stalked” Miley Cyrus until she finally agreed to work with him.
The Uptown Funk genius bombarded the singer with rambling text messages.
Mark, 44, finally got his way and fans lapped up their hit Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.
He revealed: “I became obsessed with her voice and I managed to get her number and I lightly stalked her for years.
“But she would never commit to anything and I’d just get this generic emoji back to the longest paragraph that I had written.”
Mark said he was fixated on 26-year-old Miley after she sang Paul Simon’s 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.
And the compliment was returned when Miley finally got to hear Mark’s lyrics and melody for Nothing Breaks Like a Heart – a huge hit from his album Late Night Feelings.
Miley was so impressed that she asked if Mark was free the following Tuesday to record it.
Since the hit, Mark has supported Miley after she and husband Liam Hemsworth split up.
And they have even ventured into business together, recently opening a weed cafe in West Hollywood.
It is America’s first cannabis restaurant, with pre-rolled joints, edibles or THC-infused drinks.
Mark is no stranger to drink and drugs himself and while he revealed in a BBC2 documentary how he has self medicated, he said it is therapy that has helped him get over his own marriage break-up.
He added: “I think it’s age and experience but it’s sort of having an awakening coming out of my divorce I just kind of went through.
“I think therapy has helped and just not hiding behind going out, drinking, drugs, relationships and all those kind of things.”
Mark also recalled his time working with Amy Winehouse, who died in 2011 from alcohol poisoning aged 27.
