Good luck! Michelle Heaton has revealed she wants to make her children proud on Dancing On Ice following her battles with alcohol and drugs addictions

‘My bandmate Jessica [Taylor] did it many years ago and I’ve always wanted to do the show but it’s never been my time.

‘Obviously, I’ve suffered from addictions so even though I’ve always wanted to do the show and my name has been in the hat, it was never the right time.

‘I feel really strong and ready. I want to do it because it’s always been on my bucket list. The show is magical – the costumes and doing something that is different and outside my box.

‘I’m not a professional dancer, I’m a popstar and a performer but I’m not professional at anything! I’ve had to get some confidence back with my recovery and I think it’s the right time.’

She added: ‘When I called my husband and told him I got it he was so happy – he’s my biggest supporter. Faith was with me when I received the call and I cried!

‘Faith said when I was crying that she thought it was bad news and I told her I got it and she hugged me and said, “I’m so proud of you mummy.”

‘My kids are my biggest supporters. You’ll have to tear them away because they’ll be there every week!’

Last month, Michelle shared some candid throwback pictures of herself in hospital amid her battle with addiction in a bid to raise awareness and help others.

Exciting: And just a week ahead of her debut on the ITV reality show, she said: ‘I’ve always watched the show and I’m a massive fan of the show’ (pictured with Łukasz Różycki)

The singer shared some heartbreaking snaps showing herself with a bruised face after ‘collapsing in active addiction,’ before encouraging her followers to reach out to those who might be suffering to help them turn their lives around.

‘Two years ago this was me… I was admitted to hospital, not for the first or the last time. I had collapsed in active addiction,’ her post began.

‘I left the hospital the next day, I walked over to the off-licence and bought more vodka.

‘Seems insane? It is! But it was the only way I knew how to live. So I thought.

‘I swore to my peers, family and doctors I was on the mend. I meant it. But my mind of an addict had a different plan.’

Michelle then encouraged her followers to reach out to others who might be suffering.

‘New year is a time we all make goals, and resolutions. Why don’t you make your goal to reach out to someone like me?’ she said.
