Morgan Freeman, 86, misses out on planned press trip to the UK after contracting a ‘contagious infection’
Morgan Freeman has missed a planned press trip to the UK with his Special Ops: Lioness co-stars after falling ill.
The American actor, 86, decided to stay stateside after coming down with a ‘fever’, with doctors believing he had caught a ‘contagious infection’.
He had been due to fly over to the UK to promote his new spy thriller Special Ops: Lioness alongside his co-stars Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman.
But Morgan remained in the US and was notably absent from a string of press appearances in London, with Zoe and Nicole both attending a screening of their Paramount+ show on Tuesday.
The pair had also appeared on The One Show together, with host Alex Jones admitting she was ‘gutted’ that Morgan wasn’t there.

Of his absence, his representative told MailOnline: ‘Morgan has a fever and his doctor felt he had a contagious infection, so he cancelled his trip. He is fine now.’
Morgan – who also struggles with fibromyalgia – is currently gearing up for the release of his latest project, Paramount+ series Special Ops: Lioness.
His co-stars Zoe and Nicole have had a jam-packed press schedule, having attended a photocall at IET London before heading to a screening at Tate Britain on Tuesday.
The spy thriller, inspired by a real-life CIA program, follows the life of marine Joe (Zoe) as she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror.
Written by Taylor Sheridan, who is usually renowned for his westerns, the series will see him try a change of genre as he works with Morgan, Zoe and Nicole as well as Laysla De Oliveira and Michael Kelly.
In the hotly-anticipated show, slated for release on July 23, Morgan plays Edwin Mullins, the United States secretary of state.
Zoe takes the lead role of Joe, the station chief of The Lioness Program, who must train and lead her female undercover operatives to prepare them for the danger that lies ahead.
Nicole stars as Kaitlyn Meade, the CIA’s senior supervisor, who enlists an aggressive Marine Raider Cruz (De Oliveira) to operate undercover alongside Joe amid the CIA’s efforts to thwart the next 9/11.

Bassem Youssef plays Amrohi, a rags-to-riches billionaire businessman with ties to terrorism, building his fortune by legitimate means before profiteering off the wars that destroy the Middle East that he’s spent decades helping to rebuild.
The series has been executive produced by both Zoe and Nicole and was produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios for Paramount+.
It also stars the likes of Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan and Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Stephanie Nur and Hannah Love Lanier.
The espionage thriller is slated to premiere on July 23 with the just first two episodes on Paramount+.
One episode will then be released weekly, with the series finale set to take place on September 3.
