Olivia Colman reveals she flew to Denmark to help children affected by Ukraine’s war with Russia – where the UNICEF UK president packed emergency supplies and wrote notes
Olivia Colman has revealed she recently flew to Denmark in order to help children affected by Ukraine’s war with Russia.
The actress and UNICEF UK president, 48, told how she visited the charity’s Copenhagen warehouse to assist in packing emergency supplies while adding handwritten notes and goodies including puzzles, puppets, balls and games.
And amid other humanitarian crises throughout the world, such as those in Yemen, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Pakistan, she also provided sanitary supplies, medical equipment, and midwifery kits.

The Crown star told The Mirror: ‘It’s so important that children can receive this kind of support. A bomb is dropped, you lose everything.
‘You lose your right and your ability to be clean and to feel safe, and for children their right to play and learn and feel nourished and looked after and cared for. And that’s why this is so important.’
‘There is no child in the world who is responsible for any war, and amazing people here make sure that they’re not forgotten and they’re looked after.’

It comes after Olivia defended her on-screen son from bullies after actor Kit Connor, came out as bisexual.
The harassment began when the 18-year-old starred alongside her in the Netflix series Heartstopper, as a rugby player whose relationship with another boy at school may lead to more than friendship.
Kit made the announcement on Halloween via Twitter writing, ‘Back for a minute. I’m bi. Congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show. Bye.’
At the Los Angeles premiere of her film Empire of Light Thursday, the Oscar winner went into mama bear mode as she told Variety she was ‘so proud’ of her co-star.
‘I am so proud of him, but I am not proud of how people bullied him. I think people should be allowed to have their own journey.’
‘But I’m incredibly proud of him as a young man to deal with all of that and be in the spotlight. It’s unfair,’ she continued. ‘But he’s amazing. He’s a very beautiful human being.’
