BUGGING OUT
Last week I was struck down with a horrible sickness bug. It swept through the house and Millie and Princess also ended up being ill. Thankfully it was only a 24-hour thing and I feel much better and so does Millie, but poor Princess still isn’t very well. She’s also been struck down by tonsilitis, so she’s got a double whammy! I hope she’ll be feeling better soon. As I was ill I had to cancel my Evening With event at the Spa Pavilion in Suffolk, I was gutted. We are rescheduling and I would love you all to come back and have a lovely evening with us. It will be a very intimate event with things people have never seen before on the night. I can’t wait!
A WORRYING TIME FOR PARENTS
It’s been very worrying as a parent to see the increasing number of children dying from Strep A. It’s horrific for any parent to have to go through that. It’s been comforting to hear reports from doctors saying that it is still very, very rare that a child will die, but any child’s death is a complete tragedy. I think we just have to keep an eye on our children and be very vigilant about the symptoms such as a rash and fever.
On another note, it is very helpful living with a doctor, but there are downsides, too. The good thing is that you know when anything serious happens she’ll know what to do, but the flip side is that you can’t be a hypochondriac because if you complain the answer is, “You’ll be fine, get on with it!” But that tough love has helped me quite a bit with my anxiety in the past. Sometimes when I’ve felt really anxious Emily knows exactly what to say and she’s helped me rationalise and understand things.
LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS
I’ve finally started my Christmas shopping, but as always I will still be running around on Christmas Eve doing some last-minute bits. Hey, it wouldn’t be me otherwise! Junior and Princess have finally given me a list after I begged them to, but I’m still working on Emily’s present.
Millie and Theo just want very simple things like marshmallows, which is very cute, and Theo has asked for toy cars. We’ve been enjoying lots of festive activities and at the time of writing this we’re going to LaplandUK in a few days. The kids are so excited and we love to go every year. Another thing we love to do is go to our local carol service on Christmas Eve, so there’s lots to look forward to.

10 YEARS WITHOUT YOU BRO
This week marks 10 years since my brother Andrew sadly passed away. It’s almost mind-blowing knowing it’s been a whole decade. Of course we will be with him on this sad anniversary. It will always be a difficult time and it doesn’t get any easier.
Milestones like this are a time to reflect and it’s a very emotional time for us as a family. It does make Christmas a bittersweet time. It’s the time of year when I lost someone so special to me and who can never be replaced, but it’s also an amazing and important time for the kids and us as a family. I always feel mixed emotions and Christmas is never going to be the same as it was. But we will of course make it incredibly special for the children.
