After Sir Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster, 49, recently spoke out about her new soon-to-be career as a police volunteer once the coronavirus lockdown has been lifted, the former model has now admitted “nothing has been more rewarding” since making the exciting career move. The Strictly Come Dancing star took to Instagram to share her thoughts on why she wants to help improve lives.
It’s what’s needed.

In view of her 103,000 Instagram followers, Penny shared a snap of herself dressed in her police uniform and opened up about being an almost-member of the police.
The Channel 4 star divulged: “Nothing has been more rewarding as when I got the opportunity to step into the boots of a police volunteer.
“Making a positive change in the community is what’s needed,” she continued.
“I’m looking forward to getting the training and support I’ll need to help stop crime and improve lives, as a Special Police Constable.”

Penny went on to say: “Make a difference and #jointhepolice (see my profile for website link).”
Soon after the star expressed her thoughts online, many fans waded in to congratulate Penny on her decision.
One penned on her post: “That’s amazing! My son is a Police Officer and loves his job!
“I’m so looking forward to hearing about your journey X.”
Another wrote to Penny: “As a father of 2 girls one working in ICU and one in the army reserves you make an exceptional role model for young women good on you x.”
A third also replied: “Beyond proud.”
It comes after Penny took part in Channel 4’s Famous and Fighting Crime, a programme which followed celebrities out on duty alongside police officers, last year.
While reflecting on her time on the show, the BBC favourite told the Daily Mail: “Well he is a worrier, so when I was doing the filming for the show, which was in Peterborough, he’d be phoning to check I was OK.

“But he also saw how much I got from it. I think he understands. The kids are the same.”
Penny starred on the 2019 series alongside the likes of Katie Piper and Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing.
The Channel 4 favourite was determined to enrol for the police months back but admitted the coronavirus pandemic “delayed” the process, and is currently waiting for her training.
However, Penny revealed she has already passed her policing exams and will “commit to a certain number of shifts” with the City of London Police, once she has completed her training.

The TV star shared: “Special constables are paired up with experienced, full-time officers but they’re able to make arrests, offer support, have the same power as regular police officers do.
“I will be in full uniform, of course, boots, hi-viz, hat, badge and name tag,” she went on to add.
“I’m not sure what name to go under, Lancaster or Stewart.
“I use Penny Lancaster for work and Lancaster-Stewart for more personal occasions.”
