Run the Jewels unveiled a new video for “No Save Point,” a track from their latest album RTJ4, during the Adult Swim Festival on Friday (November 13).
The visual shows El-P and Killer Mike performing the song from the dystopian neon world featured in the upcoming “Cyberpunk 2077” video game. It shows El-P and Mike appearing as alter egos of Yankee & The Brave and interacting with some of the characters from the game.
Before releasing the video, El-P said, “I grew up on all of those sorta dystopian, sci-fi, cyberpunk films, comics, novels. It was really easy for me to get into the mind state for this.”
“I like shooting shit, and in video games you can do that and not go to jail, so…,” added Mike.
El-P also spoke about the cyberpunk genre, which combines technological advancement and industrial and societal ruin.
“This is what happens when our f**ked up shit ages,” he said. “I love the idea that the future is the future, but it’s also old… the future’s kinda broken down.”
El-P added, “At the same time we’re creating new technology, the things that we did have in our grasp — like morality and society — are breaking down and turning into compost.”
