Ryan Gosling made the sweetest tribute to Eva Mendes at the Barbie premiere

There are no ifs or buts that the upcoming Barbie movie is the hottest and most highly anticipated film of the year. And on Sunday the 9 July, the star-studded cast, crew, and everyone involved in the movie proved exactly that, as they descended onto the red (or pink) carpet for the world premiere in Los Angeles.

From Margot Robbie (who plays Barbie) to Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish (two of the artists who contributed to the soundtrack), the film’s brains and director Greta Gerwig was also there, plus other stars like America Ferrera, Ashley Graham and Nicki Minaj. Seriously, A-list Barbie Land completely took over the city.

But as well as the girls who got into the all-pink spirit of things, Ryan Gosling also made an appearance, and when we say he gave off serious Kenergy, we mean it.

FYI, the 42 year old will portray the OG Ken in the film, and if you ask us, he seems to be the perfect casting. (Just take a look at the trailer, you’ll know what we mean.)

Upon arriving at the premiere, Ryan stunned in a powder pink Gucci suit, a paler pink shirt and cream brogues. All while looking positively glowing and sunkissed – a look that the Ken doll would most definitely be proud of.

But alongside his suitably fitting look in which he 100% embraced the viral Barbiecore trend, the Golden Globe winner also gave a subtle and sweet nod to his partner and fellow actor, Eva Mendes, who was not present at the premiere.

For those who missed the tiny detail, Ryan completed his outfit with a low hanging necklace that featured a chain of Eva’s initial – finished in the iconic pink Barbie font. Um, cute!

It only seems right that Ryan gave such a sentimental nod to Eva – considering how she’s been gushing from the sidelines about his role as Ken from the minute he was cast. From sweet Instagram posts cheering him on to sporting his face on her own T-shirt, Ryan was also recently vocal about how much Eva’s support means to him.

While speaking to Access Hollywood during Sunday’s premiere, he said of her cheerleading: “It means everything. It means everything.”

OK, this is officially the cutest thing ever, and now we really can’t wait for the release of the film.

Barbie reaches cinemas on 21 July.
