Saffron Barker, 19, is the latest contestant to join the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 celebrity line-up. However, the YouTube star risks a negative reaction after a video she filmed about train delays has reemerged. In the clip, the vlogger, who has over two million followers on her channel, complained about being held up by public transport. She said: “[It should have taken] 50 minutes, but instead it took me four and a half hours. So that was amazing.
It meant that I couldn’t get home and it wasn’t just I couldn’t get home, it was the most stressful thing.

“So basically, obviously it’s really sad, someone did get hit by a train, but it meant that I couldn’t get home and it wasn’t just I couldn’t get home, it was the most stressful thing.”(sic)
The social media personality then went on to rant about the lack of bus replacement services following the incident.
She continued: “They weren’t doing no buses to help anyone, I was in an hour taxi line, stood in the cold for an hour taxi line.”
Twitter users shared the video after Saffron’s Strictly announcement was revealed on the micro-blogging site.
One tweeted the clip with the caption: “Remember that time Saffron complained that her train was delayed because someone took their own life?”
Another added: “This the same saffron barker that moaned about a train line suicide delaying her journey?”
“So Saffron Barker is apparently down to do Strictly. You know… the young girl who last year moaned about taking too long to get home coz someone took their own life on the train tracks,” a third wrote.(sic)
Saffron’s representative told Express.co.uk: “This actually happened a year ago, she got trolled abuse and press then – she made a silly comment and sincerely apologised. She’s a great girl.”
Saffron is the second YouTuber to star on Strictly Come Dancing following former finalist Joe Sugg’s, 27, successful stint on the BBC dance competition last year.
She became the fourth contestant to be confirmed for the show this morning, joining actresses Catherine Tyldesley and Emma Barton, former goalkeeper David James and comedian Chris Ramsey.
The vlogger opened up about her forthcoming appearance on Strictly during a conversation with former Strictly finalist and Heart Radio host Ashley Roberts.
She said: “I am really excited to go on the Strictly journey and am feeling very grateful for the opportunity!
“I’m looking forward to learning all of the dances, finding out who my partner is, getting to wear the costumes and to just experience this once in a lifetime opportunity.”
In reference to Joe Sugg, Saffron added: “I’m excited to follow in his footsteps, he’s done absolutely amazing… I’ve got a lot to live up to.”
The Strictly hopeful also revealed what kind of professional dance partner she wants, explaining: She also added what kind of partner she’s hoping for, saying: “Do you know what. I think I’ll be happy with anybody but one thing that I really do want is a partner that pushes me and works hard.
“To be honest I think they’re probably gonna be sick of me because I’m not going to want to leave the training room.”
Tune in to Heart Breakfast, weekdays from 6.30am-10am.
