Sean “Diddy” Combs will receive the Global Icon Award at the MTV Video Music Awards and perform at the event to be held on September 12.
Combs will be making a comeback to MTV VMAs after a gap of 18 years. He was a host as well as performer at the 2005 awards ceremony.
The 2023 VMAs will air live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday at 8PM ET/PT.
Doja Cat, Anitta, Demi Lovato, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Maneskin, Shakira, Stray Kids and Lil Wayne are among other artists who are set to perform at the VMAs.
Combs will receive the Global Icon Award for “his unparalleled career and continued influence that has achieved unrivaled global success in music and beyond,” MTV said in its announcement.
The legendary hip hop mogul’s worldwide impact has lasted for more than three decades, which includes two No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
Diddy Comb’s latest album, The Love Album: Off the Grid, is set to release on September 9.
It marks his first major album since Last Train to Paris, released in 2010.
