Strictly painful! Shirley Ballas hobbles out with her foot in an orthopaedic boot after spraining her ankle in mystery accident
Shirley Ballas will not be showing off her Latin moves any time soon after injuring her leg and being given an orthopaedic boot.
The Strictly Come Dancing head judge, 59, has sprained her ankle, although it is unclear exactly how she hurt herself.
She was seen using a stick to support herself as she limped into an osteopath’s in Epsom, Surrey, on Monday. Later, she emerged with her leg in the large brace.

In a message to her 162,000 followers on Instagram, she said of the ‘painful’ injury: ‘I think it was beyond a sprain… what do you think?
‘I’ll be wearing this little chappy [the orthopaedic boot] for a while and with a little bit of a hobble so I won’t be running for a while so I’ll have to find other ways to exercise.
‘Thanks to all you people who asked how I was doing – it’s been a painful day but getting there in the end. Hopefully it will be on the mend pretty soon.’

Last October Shirley had her DD breast implants removed after 17 years amid fears they could be masking signs of breast cancer.
And in January she needed emergency dental surgery after chipping a tooth.
Meanwhile the BBC is said to be doing all it can to ensure Strictly can go ahead this autumn following the lockdown.
Hopeful: Shirley has suggested that Strictly Come Dancing could return to screens with contestants dancing without touching their partners
Shirley has suggested that the show could return to screens with contestants dancing without touching their partners.
She recently told Loose Women: ‘I’m positive they will give the best show they can. I can’t imagine the autumn without the glitz and the glamour.’
With the current health crisis presenting logistical nightmares for many shows over the coming months, Shirley agreed with the panel after it was suggested that the contestants move in with each other for its duration.
‘That could make things rather exciting if that were to happen!’ she added. ‘As long as the judges were allowed to move in too, we’ll be fine.’
