Simon Cowell has insisted he's not stepping away from TV soon, despite quitting his recent role as judge on new show Walk The Line.
Britain's Got Talent star Simon, 62, revealed he preferred being behind the camera rather than in front of it as he discussed his decision to step down as judge from the new talent show,
Simon opened up to OK! as he appeared on the red carpet for the Together For Short Lives charity ball, which aims to raise £300,000 to allow families caring for children with life limiting conditions to make the most of the time they have together.
The music mogul, who is also patron of the charity, was rumoured to be quitting TV recently to spend more time with his family.
But, Simon has insisted UK viewers haven't seen the last of him just yet on their boxes.
Speaking on the red carpet for the Together For Short Lives charity ball, held in partnership with OK! and sponsored by M&S Food, Simon revealed he was stepping back "just on this on project".
He added: "You know why, sometimes I produce the shows I appear on and I just took everything into account and I thought: 'You know what this is just the right thing is to step back for a second'.
"I've done it before, you know. I like being behind more than actually being on camera so – and it's a new show so I felt I probably could do more behind the scenes."
Walk The Line has already confirmed Gary Barlow, Craig David and Dawn French as judges for the new talent show.
But, Simon teased he had more tricks up his sleeve and is set to announce more big names taking part on the show.
Speaking about the lineup of the show, Simon said: "We've still got more people to announce. There are going to be some surprises on the way so, yeah, I like working like this."
He was due to be a judge on new talent show Walk The Line, but has now been replaced by Gary Barlow.
And it was feared he had stepped away from TV for good as a source previously told The Sun: "Given all the upheavals of the past year or so, what with lockdown and his health, he’s decided now is not the time to be front of camera.
"He’s just finished an exceptionally busy period filming which saw him spending an extended period of time away from home, so he also wants to devote more time to his family in the coming weeks.
"Simon wants help steer the ship from behind the scenes so he can ensure the series runs to his exacting demands."
