Simon Rimmer, 56, and Tim Lovejoy, 51, were joined on their sofa by Capital FM radio hosts Roman Kemp, 26, and Vick Hope, 29. As the foursome chatted about all things showbiz, Tim asked the young presenter if he had any “regrets” with Roman admitting he had some “terrible tattoos”. But it was the Capital FM star’s surprising admission about his dad Martin Kemp, 57, which left the Sunday Brunch hosts in hysterics. Roman revealed he had cartoon character Bart Simpson tattooed on his leg but admitted it was not the “worst tattoo” he’d ever seen.
He divulged: “I’ve got Bart Simpson tattooed on leg. I’ve grown up on all that kind of stuff.”
Tim asked: “Do you regret that?”
Roman replied: “No. Tim, I’ve got some horrendous ones.”
Vick nodded in agreement, saying: “Yes, he’s got some terrible tattoos.”
The Sunday Brunch host, then asked: “Does your dad like them?”
Roman replied: “Yes. He got his first tattoo at 45. I told him ‘You’ve got to get one if you want to be cool.’”
“It was at the time the group were getting back together.”
Martin is best known as the bassist in the 80s pop group Spandau Ballet and for his role as Steve Owen in EastEnders.
However, Roman admitted his dad’s tattoo is the “worst tattoo” he’s seen which he had coerced him to do while the family were on holiday.
He said: “It was the worst thing. I’ve said to him ‘You’ve got to go to the tattoo parlour.’
“We walk in there and he’s [Martin’s] like ‘What should we get Ro?’
“And I said ‘You need a sword with some wings going through a peace sign’”.
Roman chuckled: “It’s like the worst tattoo you’ve ever seen. He’s got it on his arm.”
The surprising admission had Simon and Tim in hysterics after the radio DJ dropped his tattoo revelation.
Meanwhile, Simon recently spoke out about when he will decide to call it quits on the Channel 4 show.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: “You know what, I genuinely love it [the show]. From the first week we did it.
“I don’t think there is any other job in the world where you’d get to hang out with your mates for three hours, get to cook, drink, meet interesting people and relax on the sofa while people perform live music, which is exactly what we do on the show.”
He continued: “I think Tim and I will know when Sunday Brunch has had its day.”
Sunday Brunch airs today on Channel 4 at 9.30am.
