The ‘Shutdown’ rapper, who reportedly dated Adele between 2019 and 2021, reveals that he has ‘had an endoscopy and nothing was found but I still get crippling waves of pain in my stomach.’
AceShowbiz –Skepta has gotten candid about his health problems. More than a month after his hospitalization, the “Shutdown” hitmaker took to social media to detail his years-long battle with stomach issues.
The 39-year-old emcee shared his story on Tuesday, August 9. “Through song lyrics or word of mouth some of you know I have suffered from IBS/stomach ulcers/problems since my early twenties,” he began writing on Instagram Story.
“Apart from me not being able to maintain a steady weight, depression, short term memory loss, it also controls my moods, which has ultimately steered my Life,” he continued. “I’ve had an endoscopy and nothing was found but I still get crippling waves of pain in my stomach.”
“So I think the next thing for me to do is to book an MRI scan,” Skepta, who reportedly dated Adele between 2019 and 2021, added. “But if anybody has any experience or advice about this kind of thing I would love to talk still.”
Before concluding his message, Skepta sent “strength” to anyone who has been dealing with the same issues as him. He then noted, “The internal fights, the mood swings, losing things etc are normal symptoms, just don’t let it ruin your Life please get help.”
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is “a common condition characterized by abdominal discomfort associated with altered bowel movements… Recent research has shown that many symptoms of IBS are related to hypersensitivity of the nerves found in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract.”
Skepta was rushed to a hospital in early July. At that time, he shared on Instagram Story a photo of his lower half in a hospital gown. The grime artist, whose real name is Chief Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., then penned in the accompanying message, “Say a little prayer for me (sic).”
