Strictly bosses prepare dramatic changes to costumes – Layton Williams ‘to star in a dress’

Strictly Come Dancing could see some interesting differences in this year's show as Layton Williams has told bosses he wants to dance as his most authentic self.

Layton, 28, has had starring roles in the West End such as playing the lead in Billy Elliot and Everyone's Talking About Jamie.

Now Layton, who has had previous dance training, has told his new Strictly Come Dancing bosses that he wants to be his authentic self in the ballroom, making it clear he wants to be able to wear dresses if he feels it necessary.

BBC bosses have said this is fine and he has been measured up for different dresses by the show's costume department – as well as for trousers and shirts.

Layton, who also had a starring role in TV show Bad Education, is also keen on having a male partner which Strictly is now no stranger to.

A source told The Sun: "They see it as a total non-issue but are aware it could raise a few eyebrows in homes up and down the UK.

"The bottom line is they want all the contestants to be comfortable during their routines and personal preferences are always taken into account."

Strictly first saw in the 2020 series of the show when Team GB boxer Nicola Adams paired up with Katya Jones.

And since then there have been other same-sex pairings as in last year's series, the comedian Jayde Adams was partnered with Karen Hauer.

During a stint on Radio 2, Layton said: "I'm happy so long as it's a guy.

"I want to dance with a man. I can't wait to get flung around and wear some glittery costumes."

Layton was the third celebrity to be confirmed as taking part in this series of the show and he seemed to be very excited with his role after taking to social media.

Taking to Instagram he said he was on "cloud nine right now" and he hopes "friends, family, everyone gets behind me."

Many of his fans have flooded the comments in support of the actor as he takes on the Strictly challenge.

One fan wrote: "Cannot wait to see you! You will smash this no matter who you’re partnered with!"

While another stated: "Cannot wait to see you smash it babes!"

Another fan jokingly quipped: "The slaykation begins x"
