Swifties Are Furious at 'Ginny and Georgia' for Making a Misogynistic Joke About Taylor Swift's Dating Life

Sure, tonight might be the 79th annual Golden Globe Awards, but ATM Taylor Swift fans really couldn’t give a damn about that because they are pissed at not one, but two shows on Netflix for inserting some pretty misogynistic jokes about their fave singer. Let’s discuss!

Netflix dropped their new show, Ginny and Georgia, last week which sees teenage lead Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry) and her mother Georgia (Brianne Howey) uprooting their lives to move to New England. Basically, it’s as coming of age as it gets, and while that isn’t exactly a crime, the writers of the show took a jab at Taylor in one of the episodes, with one of the characters in the show saying, “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.” Yeah…not cool.

Degrassi: Next Class also made a rude joke about Taylor a while back, with one of the characters echoing a similar sentiment: “Taylor Swift made an entire career off of her exes.” This angered Taylor’s fans and prompted her fans to get “RESPECT TAYLOR SWIFT” trending on Twitter. “Okay no it’s not sitting right with me the [sic] Netflix has two Taylor Swift projects on their platform and they are okay with treating her like this!!! RESPECT TAYLOR SWIFT,” a fan wrote.
